Dimitrov Advances to First French Open Quarterfinals by Defeating Hurkacz
French Open: Grigor Dimitrov, a rising star in Bulgarian tennis, made his way to the quarterfinals of the French Open at Roland Garros for the first time by defeating Poland’s Hubert Hurkacz. Dimitrov secured his victory over the world No. 8 with sets of 7-6(5), 6-4, 7-6(3) in the men’s singles fourth round.
The 33-year-old Dimitrov is set to face off against Italy’s Jannik Sinner, currently ranked world No. 2. Meanwhile, in another match, men’s world No. 3 Carlos Alcaraz triumphed over Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime in straight sets and is scheduled to play against Stefanos Tsitsipas, who eliminated Italy’s Matteo Arnaldi. Alcaraz’s win came in straight sets, while Tsitsipas won with sets of 3-6, 7-6(4), 6-2, 6-2 in the fourth round.
French Open: Alcaraz expressed eagerness for the upcoming match, acknowledging Tsitsipas’s strong performance. In the women’s singles fourth round, top-ranked players like Iga Swiatek, Marketa Vondrousova, Coco Gauff, and Ons Jabeur all advanced to the quarterfinals with straightforward victories. Aryna Sabalenka and Elena Rybakina are yet to play their fourth-round matches. Both men’s and women’s singles quarterfinal matches are scheduled for Tuesday.
