Government’s Objective: Increasing Utilization of Artificial Intelligence in Food Processing
Indian officials announced plans to expedite the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) into the food processing domain, aiming to enhance operational efficiency, bolster farmers’ incomes, and mitigate environmental impact.
During a conference convened by NIFTEM (National Institute of Food Technology Entrepreneurship and Management) to explore the utilization of cutting-edge technologies in this sector, high-ranking bureaucrats and government advisors emphasized the necessity of crafting a strategic blueprint for the implementation of AI tools.
They underscored that while AI applications are still in their infancy within India’s expansive food processing industry, there is a pressing need to establish a clear roadmap for their deployment.
Food Processing Secretary Anita Praveen highlighted the importance of collaboration with the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MEITY), expressing confidence in the support expected from its secretary towards this initiative.
